Planning a trip to China just became a little easier. As internetional travel to China continues to grow, the country has introduced a new digital arrival system designed to make entry faster and more convenient for foreign visitors.

Starting November 20, 2025, travelers can complete the China Digital Arrival Card (CDAC) online before departure, reducing paperwork and helping streamline the immigration process upon arrival. Here’s everything you need to know before your next trip to China.

What If You Cannot Submit Online Before Arrival?

Travelers who are unable to complete the declaration before departure may still complete the process upon arrival at any Chinese port of entry.

Available methods include:

Scanning the on-site QR code
Using self-service declaration kiosks
Filling out a traditional paper entry card

This ensures that passengers without internet access or mobile services can still complete the required procedures conveniently.

Who Is Exempt from the Entry Card Requirement?

1.Foreigners with valid Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card of People’s Republic of China.

2.Foreigners with valid Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (Non-Chinese).

3.Foreigners transiting directly within 24 hours without leaving the restricted area of the port.

4.Members of foreign tourist groups who are visa-free or holding group visa.

5.Foreign crew members, drivers and other employees of transport vehicles.

6.Foreigners who enter by cruise ship and return with the original cruise.

7.Individuals eligible for the courteous treatment of centralized submission of entry and exit documents.

8.Foreigners who enter through the E-channel.
