Itinerary

Day 1Lhasa – Arrival

Upon arrival in Lhasa, you will be greeted at the airport or train station by your private driver and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to rest and adjust to the high altitude.

Day 2Lhasa

Begin at the Potala Palace (UNESCO), the former winter residence of the Dalai Lama and Tibet’s most iconic landmark. Continue to Jokhang Temple (UNESCO), the spiritual heart of Tibetan Buddhism, before strolling along Barkhor Street, where pilgrims and traders mingle among colorful markets. In the evening, enjoy a Tibetan-style welcome dinner.

Day 3Lhasa

Spend the morning in Dadong Village, a peaceful rural community where you can visit traditional homes and experience daily Tibetan life. In the afternoon, visit Sera Monastery, renowned for its vibrant monks’ debate, a centuries-old tradition where philosophical discussions are brought to life.

Day 4Lhasa to Gyantse to Shigatse

Drive across the dramatic Kamba La Pass (4,790 m), stopping to admire the turquoise waters of Yamdrok-tso Lake (4,400 m) framed by snow peaks. Continue to Gyantse, where the remarkable Pelkor Monastery and multi-tiered Gyantse Kumbum Stupa showcase Buddhist art in vivid detail. By evening, arrive in Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city.

Day 5Shigatse to Shegar (New Tingri)

Journey through the plateau landscapes towards Lhatse County and Shegar. Pause at Pang La Pass (5,050 m) for panoramic views of five Himalayan giants, including Mount Everest (Qomolangma), before descending into Tingri County.

Day 6Shegar to Rongbuk Monastery to Shigatse

At sunrise, if weather allows, witness the breathtaking first light over Mount Everest. Visit Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world, where monks and nuns live side by side. Later, drive back through Tibet’s vast highlands to Shigatse.

Day 7Shigatse to Lhasa

Begin with Tashilhunpo Monastery, the spiritual seat of the Panchen Lama, home to the world’s largest gilded statue of Maitreya Buddha. In the afternoon, return to Lhasa via a scenic 6-hour drive across the Tibetan plateau.
