DAY 1  Arrival in Lijiang

Upon arrival in Lijiang, you will be met by your local tour guide at the airport or railway station and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free for you to rest or begin exploring the city at your own pace. Overnight in Lijiang.

Day 2  Snow Mountain & Cultural Visits

Begin the day with a visit to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, one of Yunnan’s most iconic natural landmarks. Continue to Baisha Village to view the renowned Baisha Frescoes—ancient murals that reflect scenes from village life and Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Learn about the unique Dongba script, still used by the Naxi people in their rituals and records. In the afternoon, explore a traditional Naxi village, including the former residence of Austrian explorer Joseph Rock. Enjoy Naxi-style afternoon tea hosted by a local family, offering insight into their daily life and customs. Overnight in Lijiang.

Day 3  Lijiang – Old Town, Shuhe, and Mu Mansion

Begin the day with a guided tour of Lijiang’s Historical Centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its traditional Naxi architecture and intricate canal system. Continue to Shuhe Ancient Town, once an important stop along the Tea Horse Road. Visit the Mu Family Mansion, a beautifully restored residence that reflects the influence of Ming and Qing dynasty styles. Stroll through cobbled streets lined with gardens, temples, and small museums that reveal the region’s rich cultural heritage. Enjoy an optional traditional Naxi music performance in the evening. While in Shuhe, take in views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain as you experience a local tea-making tradition. Overnight in Lijiang.

Day 4  Tiger Leaping Gorge & Dukezong Old Town

Depart Lijiang and travel by road to Zhongdian (Shangri-La), with a scenic stop at the dramatic Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the world. En route, pause at Shigu to view the striking First Bend of the Yangtze River. Take a refreshment break at Halfway View Coffee, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Upon arrival in Zhongdian, explore the historic Dukezong Old Town, known for its well-preserved Tibetan architecture and cobbled alleys. Overnight stay in Shangri-La.

Day 5  Tibetan Monastery & National Park

Begin the day with a visit to Songzanlin Monastery, the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan, set against a striking mountain backdrop and often referred to as the 'Little Potala Palace'. In the afternoon, continue to Pudacuo National Park, known for its pristine lakes, forested hills, and rich biodiversity shaped by unique karst formations. Overnight in Shangri-la.

Day 6  Yila Grassland & Tibetan Families

In the morning, visit the Yila Grassland and meet local Tibetan families. Alternatively, explore a secluded valley featuring wild pasture, forest trails, a section of the ancient Tea Horse Road, and a caravan camp tea break. In the afternoon, travel by car to Benzilan. En route, take in views of the First Bend of the Jinsha River and visit Dongzhulin Monastery. Overnight in Benzilan.

Day 7  Niding Forest Walk

Travel by car from Benzilan to Zhongdian. Visit the untouched forest near Niding Village and take a gentle 6 km walk along the stream. Enjoy a simple, home-style meal at a rustic forest hut before returning to Zhongdian. Overnight in Shangri-La.

Day 8  Departure from Shangri-la

Enjoy a smooth and hassle-free transfer to the airport or train station.
